Biography
Simon Nyeck is a Teaching Professor of Marketing at ESSEC Business School, where he has been a faculty member since 1999. His research focuses on luxury marketing, brand management, and consumer behavior, with particular expertise in the cultural and semiotic dimensions of consumption.
Professor Nyeck earned his Ph.D. in Marketing from ESSEC Business School and also holds a Doctorat in Marketing from Paris-Dauphine, PSL University. In 1999, he received the Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches (HDR) from Paris-Dauphine, recognizing his ability to supervise doctoral research.
Before joining ESSEC, he was a professor at Université Laval in Canada, where he taught from 1992 to 2000. At ESSEC, he has served as Associate Professor and later as Teaching Professor, as well as Chaired Professor of the Savoir-Faire d’Exception Management Chair (2016–2020), which explored the intersection of luxury, craftsmanship, and brand heritage.
His work has been published in leading journals such as the Journal of Service Research, Recherche et Applications en Marketing, Décisions Marketing, and the Revue Française du Marketing. He has also authored influential chapters on brand strategy, retail marketing, and consumer culture, and his research has been featured in both academic conferences and business press including Les Échos.
Professor Nyeck is an active member of several scholarly associations, including the European Marketing Academy, the American Marketing Association, and the Association for Consumer Research. He has supervised multiple doctoral theses, with graduates advancing into research and industry roles in consulting, brand management, and user research.
