The Tepper School Colloquium on Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Business

November 12-14, 2026

The Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University is proud to announce its second annual Colloquium on AI for Business. The colloquium is for business scholars of all disciplines who have completed all academic coursework and are seeking faculty positions upon graduation.

The colloquium explores topics including generative AI, human-AI interaction, machine learning, large language models (LLM), and other emerging technologies in business contexts.

Program Overview

  • Engagement with CMU’s Intelligent Business Center: Explore cutting-edge AI research and its application in business contexts.
     
  • Faculty Life at CMU: Gain insights into the daily life and expectations of distinguished faculty members at CMU.
     
  • Showcase Research: Present and discuss your research, fostering dialogue with CMU students and faculty.

Program Benefits

  • Networking opportunities and research presentations with fellow participants and CMU faculty.
     
  • Campus and community tours to experience life at CMU and in Pittsburgh.
     
  • Workshops on leveraging AI in research and practical applications in your field of study.
     
  • Panel discussions offering insights into faculty careers.

Logistics

  • The Colloquium is held in-person on the Carnegie Mellon University Pittsburgh campus.
     
  • Accepted participants will be designated Fellows of the Tepper School of Business/PhD Project AI for Business Colloquium.
     
  • The Tepper School will provide support to cover participant registration fees, basic airfare (up to $300 reimbursement) and two nights of hotel accommodations (dual occupancy).
     
  • As funding is limited, full support is guaranteed for up to the first 10 accepted applicants.

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis.

How to Apply

Those interested should submit an application with an updated CV and writing sample (extended abstract of research-in-progress, completed research, or research proposals).

Extended abstract or proposal should not exceed 6 pages (single-spaced, not including cover page, figures, tables, and references) and should summarize an ongoing or completed research project and include a clearly stated research question with an explanation of its importance, discussion of theory and methods, as well as any preliminary findings and implications.

Submitted work must be original and not already published.
