This fall, Online Hybrid MBA students traveled to Thailand for an immersive international capstone project that blended academic work with cultural exploration, company visits, and alumni engagement. The weeklong experience brought together everything students have learned throughout the Online Hybrid MBA program while offering a rare opportunity to collaborate in person and engage with businesses operating in a rapidly evolving global market.
The capstone project centered on consulting engagements with early stage businesses seeking guidance on how to grow. Students applied coursework from finance, strategy, marketing, and pricing to shape recommendations and identify a clear path forward. The experience was intentionally designed as a culminating project that challenged students to synthesize their knowledge and deliver actionable insights.
“Experiencing another country’s business culture helped me to realize that business is a shared language, and being able to speak it can unlock opportunities,” said Online Hybrid MBA student Nicholas Jameson. “It also helped me to gain perspective on doing business globally. Hearing so many companies talk about international expansion so non-challantly was really inspiring.”
Throughout the trip, students participated in a range of academic activities including visits to consulting firms, capstone presentations at Novotel Siam Square, and an alumni networking event that connected them with Tepper School graduates living and working in Thailand.
The itinerary also offered opportunities to experience Thailand’s rich cultural heritage. Highlights included a visit to Ayutthya Historical Park, a city tour, the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, and a Yaowarat food tour through Bangkok’s historic Chinatown.
“In person opportunities like the Thailand capstone trip are incredibly valuable because they bring the Tepper School's Online Hybrid program experience to life,” said current student Lindsay Leskinen. “Working side by side with my teammates, meeting our client in person, and experiencing the local business environment added depth and more context to the project and everything we’ve studied.”
Online Hybrid MBA students complete their degree part time while continuing to advance in their careers. The program blends the flexibility of online learning with meaningful in-person experiences, giving students multiple opportunities throughout the year to connect with classmates and build their network. By engaging directly with business leaders, alumni, and local communities, students deepened their global perspective while strengthening the leadership and analytical skills developed throughout their MBA studies. The Thailand capstone trip continues the Tepper School tradition of preparing graduates to lead with confidence in an increasingly interconnected world.
