Engagement at the Tepper School of Business
At the Tepper School of Business, engagement is central to how we learn, lead, and innovate. Our community—students, faculty, staff, alumni, and corporate partners—brings together unique experiences and perspectives that strengthen every aspect of business education and research.
Commitment to Engagement
The Engagement Initiative reflects the Tepper School’s values: respect, collaboration, and innovation. We believe the most effective solutions are created when people with different lived experiences work together. By cultivating an environment where all voices are heard and valued, we prepare leaders who can navigate complexity and drive meaningful change in business and society.
Building Community
Engagement is woven into every aspect of the Tepper School experience. From the classroom to student organizations, and from faculty research to executive education, we create spaces where ideas are shared and connections are built. Our community-building efforts extend beyond Pittsburgh to online learners, alumni across the globe, and corporate partners who collaborate with us to advance innovation.
What Engagement Means for You
For Students
You will join a community that values your perspective and supports your goals. Engagement at the Tepper School fosters collaboration across disciplines, industries, and identities, giving you the tools to lead with empathy and agility.
For Faculty and Staff
Engagement means contributing to a culture of openness and collaboration. Faculty research benefits from interdisciplinary perspectives, while staff shape the daily experience of learning, teaching, and discovery.
For Alumni and Partners
Our graduates carry forward the values of the Tepper School into their organizations and communities. Engagement continues beyond graduation, offering opportunities to connect, mentor, and collaborate with future leaders. Corporate and nonprofit partners benefit from these connections and play a role in advancing innovative solutions.
Innovation Through Inclusion
At Carnegie Mellon, innovation is stronger when built on a foundation of inclusion. The Tepper School’s Engagement team creates opportunities to connect across differences, challenge assumptions, and approach problem-solving with a broader lens. By doing so, we prepare leaders who are ready to shape the future of business.
“Engaging with diverse groups has broadened my perspective and fostered a greater sense of connection. Achieving a unique balance of global perspective, people-centric leadership and data-driven decision-making has been at the heart of my Tepper School experience.”

Building The Intelligent Future: Strategic Plan 2024-2030
Discover our bold vision to lead business education into the next era. Our strategic plan maps how Tepper will stay at the forefront of integrating artificial intelligence with human-centered leadership, ensuring you graduate ready to shape industries rather than simply join them.
Swartz Center for Entrepreneurship
Tepper is home to one of the nation's most innovative entrepreneurship centers, where students have started over 200 new companies, including Duolingo, Wigle Whiskey and Fifth Season. The Swartz Center is where ideas become the companies that will help create tomorrow's economy.
Thought Leaders Who Shape the Future
Tepper faculty have a clear vision of what it means to lead organizations in an AI-driven world. They stretch strategic thinking to take on the world’s toughest challenges. Even as they shape global discourse on topics from AI ethics to health innovation and supply chain management, they also invest in mentoring our students with remarkable care and dedication — in the human-centered way that will define The Intelligent Future.
Committed to Community
We actively resource and foster a culture that affords all students, staff, faculty, alumni and business partners a true sense of belonging. Our core engagement values ensure that everyone at Tepper supports and values each other to actively create The Intelligent Future.
Cross-Collaborative Academics
Our educational approach has always rejected traditional silos, and our innovative AI-based curriculum prepares students to collaborate across multiple domains — because the challenges they'll solve will require unconventional ideas and creativity.

A History of Shaping the Curve
Become part of a legacy that began in 1949 when the Tepper School changed the rules of how business is studied. We pioneered management science: the analytical approach to decision-making that integrated computer modeling, organizational behavior, and economic theory for the first time. Ten Nobel Prizes later, some form of our model is taught at every business school, and we continue to redefine management science with our early start in AI integration.
